Here you will find information on Scenic Rim Wine Trail events. Enjoy:
Self-Guided Tour of the Scenic Rim Cellars Doors
Cork' n Fork provides bus tours of the cellar doors in either a small or a large bus. See the Tours page for more information.
Pterodactyl can fly you to the cellar doors in a helicopter. See the Tours page for more information.
However if you wish to conduct your own guided tour, here are some issues for you to consider when planning your trip.
There are five wineries in the Scenic Rim with a cellar doors. In the north, there is Ironbark Ridge Vineyard at Purga outside Ipswich, Paradine Estate Wines at Harrisville and Flinders Peak Winery at Peak Crossing. In the south there is Bunjurgen Estate and Kooroomba Vineyard outside Boonah.
It is possible to visit about three to four cellar doors in one day.
Larger groups require more time to use facilities and to get on and off the bus. With lunch and maybe a tea break, time may restrict you to only three cellar doors in a day. You may need to come back for a second visit.
Some of the options for lunch are the Royal Hotel at Harrisville, Kooroomba Vineyard at Boonah, or several hotels/cafes in Boonah.
Here are three possible itineraries for a day visit assuming a 10am start at the first cellar door of your choice.
- Visit all three wineries in the north with lunch at the Royal Hotel at Harrisville (open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch).
- Visit two wineries in the south with lunch at Kooroomba Vineyard (open Wednesday to Sunday) at Boonah. You could turn this into a two day trip by spending the night and having dinner at Barney Creek Vineyard near Rathdowney.
- Visit one or two wineries in the north with lunch at the Royal Hotel Harrisville or Kooroomba Vineyard Boonah and visit 1 or 2 wineries in the south. Alternatively, you could do this tour starting in the south.
You may want to take and modify these tours for your purposes.
If any of the group is looking for overnight accommodation with dinner and local wines, Barney Creek Vineyard at Barney View would be ideal. You could also book overnight accommodation at Flinders Peak.
